SHIIIINY

(see key below)

This piece was inspired the movie "Moana" ...and my daughter Maggie, who watched this movie over 100 times... seriously.

Far Left, the rock columns along the far left side of the canvas symbolize my hair when it got really long and wild and started doing its own thing. My hair sticks high atop my head and my face. Again, I like to use my face in my paintings.

Left side, closer to Center, located just beneath my nose is a green dot representing the "Heart of Tefiti" which glows under UV light. Also, as a joke with my kiddos, the green light appears like a "snot wad" in my nose :)

Across the sea floor, peeking out from behind a rock structure, Tamatoa, enemy to Demi-God Maui, LOVES shiny objects and jewels. He collects his finds and attaches them to his outer shell, consuming his original facade and donning the glitz, he'll be so shiny!

Find the phrase "Namaste, home" in the coral located on the far right.

“Ofrienda’s” (Mini Mascaras)

These are my “OFrienda’s”, they are mini handmade masks that I have been making for over 10 years in honor of Dia de los Muertos.  The idea came from Mexican clay masks that I was working on with my daughter, we decided to make and decorate some to resemble cookies in DDLM theme and the workshop took off from there.  The masks are made custom by SMURKS but given from friend to friend as an addition for the Altars (Ofrenda’s) that many people decorate for their passed love ones during the celebration. They are decorated with bright acrylic paint and usually have gems for eyes to match the vibrant decor of the altars which feature photographs of the deceased, marigold flowers, candles and even sweets as an offering to entice the spirits to return.   Make one for yourself as a cool paperweight, stick a magnet on it to decorate your fridge or even connect it on a chain for a cool pendant.  Either way, these are all handmade and hand painted individually. THE BIRDS! 🐦‍⬛

Inspired by the Hummingbird series that I painted for the Atelier for Healing project, this series focuses on the “three stooges” if you will. These are city birds that are often overlooked and taken for granted when in fact they are some of the most fascinating creatures on this planet. They are adaptive, intelligent and flat out entertaining. I chose these birds to show the character and personality that I give my art and subjects, they let me have more fun than hummingbirds too. Twin Pines Manor Gallery - Room 3

The Manor Gallery contains the bulk of the series and the many different stages over the last 4 years. Many things have happened to me over the course of the 4 years  that have affected the art.  My health is a big part of that as some of the pieces were painted left handed and with a knife as opposed to the brush I use to rely on because of nerve issues in my hands which would affect my grip. Some of these pieces were painted while I was resting in bed because I could not stop creating but was advised to rest and try to relax. Some of these pieces have more love put into them because of the feelings I had while painting them.  Nonetheless, my grand finale, my swan song, my offering, the last room.  Entrance wall left “Electric FEel” was one of the first large paintings I did in the series. It features UV paint and a variety of hidden faces including my face as a silhouette. “El Arrecife de Los Gigantes” or “Reef of the Giants” is a personal favorite of mine because ...
